After Windir had released the masterpiece that is ''Arntor'', I can safely assume that expectations for the next album was high. ''1184'' is definitely a worthy follow up, and grants Windir legendary status.
For ''1184'' Windir seems to have adopted a heavier style, however they keep true to the Windir sound. The Viking imagery is still predominant, however it's a little bit less central. The atmosphere is still great, and the Viking vibe is so strong, I can physically feel my facial hair grow whilst listening. The fantastic use of clean vocals, synth, and heavily distorted guitars creates an unreal atmosphere, and before you know it, the album is over.
