While 2024’s “Exultation of Cruelty” ventured into older, more primitive territory, “Drachenkreuz” serves as a companion to 2022’s majestic “Aamongandr”. Its roots were recorded during the “Aamongandr” sessions, originally conceived as two albums recorded together, before Werwolf finalized “Drachenkreuz” with a different approach.

Still unmistakably SATANIC WARMASTER, the album unleashes rippling second-wave melodicism steeped in tragedy and triumph, antagonism and aristocracy. Its varied songcraft spans Norsecore, proto-bestiality, and everything between, recalling “Carelian Satanist Madness” while exploring an even broader spectrum.

Authentically dungeonic yet richly detailed, “Drachenkreuz” unfolds as a world of its own, from the heroic guitar solos of “Rex Typhonis” and “The Dragon’s Cross” to the warlusting backing vocals of “Infernal Armageddon.”
