With Spiritual Black Dimensions, Dimmu Borgir started a new chapter in their career, adding Mustis and Vortex to the band, which was a huge step up in their overall sound and career. After Enthrone Darkness Triumphant, which basically defined and shaped the symphonic black metal scene, it was supposed to be hard to top that album, but many say this album was the pinnacle of Dimmu Borgir’s symphonic black era.

The balance they achieve here and lineup is absolutely critical for why this album is so great and I think if you look at this album in that light, you may feel the same way.
