Though more often associated with the hedonism of 80s glam culture, Los Angeles was home to many USPM upstarts that were more drawn to the fine art of storytelling, be it via the genres of horror, Sci-Fi, or high fantasy respectively. While Agent Steel was obsessed with government intrigue with a Sci-Fi twist in a sort of The X-Files 8 years before it was a thing fashion with Unstoppable Force, and Omen was taking on the darker and scarier side of the equation with Warning Of Danger, a lesser known and heroic quartet dubbed Commander would take a crack at the Arthurian mold of fantastical narratives. Though by 1987 the American brand of power metal had seen most of its substantial pioneering bands having their debut and sophomore LP outings, there was definitely room for further expansion of this particular art form and for a dark horse to further shake things up.
Fresh off participating on the Metal Massacre VII compilation with such noted upstarts as Flotsam And Jetsam, Cryptic Slaughter and Sentinel Beast, these sword-bearing metal trustees would unleash one of the most underrated LPs of the entire 1980s.
