Immortal are one of the cornerstone pioneers of the second wave of black metal, primarily led by the Norwegians. Diabolical Fullmoon Mysticism was the first step towards the legendary status the band holds today, and probably the most rough and unrefined offering from their catalogue. Although later releases seem to generate more praise, this is no doubt their most important milestone as highly influential figures in black metal.
