While the Norwegian outfit Shaarimoth have already been formed back in 2004 „Temple of the Adversarial Fire” is only their second full length. Their debut “Current 11” got a few positive critics back then by combining pretty traditional death metal with a few blackened touches and some occult and unorthodox layers. However, what I will say is that for open-minded fans of dark and disgusting music this return surely is a blessing.
“Temple of the Adversarial Fire” often does not simply follow a pop song formula consisting of the traditional verse-bridge-chorus parts. The songs feature arrangements that flow and evolve as each riff closes. Each transition marks an indistinguishable final chapter in a song segment. This album is mostly comprised of pieces, not standard songs. However, it is the way how those pieces have been put together that makes this album stand out from most of its peers.

The record comes as a Gatefold LP with a 20 pages booklet glued to it and heavy vinyl.
